Aquatic Therapy, not just pool play

"Aquatic therapy lets me learn how to swim, but let's me learn my way. I like to jump in the water now! Both feet jumping!" ~  Harper, 5 years old

Aquatic Therapy uses water's natural therapeutic properties; buoyancy, resistance, and warmth, to create a gentler environment for exercise. Sessions are one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist in the water. You do not need to know how to swim to participate! Individuals of any age or condition can benefit from exercise in the water.

Aquatic Therapy aids in:

  • gently building strength and muscle tone

  • relaxation

  • increased blood circulation and cardiovascular endurance

  • range of motion

  • reduction of pain and joint stress

  • as well as minimizing swelling.

Fun, yet intentional balance, strengthening, and coordination activities in the water offer a welcome change from traditional therapies. This helps by confusing the muscle memory, and therefore progress is noticeable in a shorter amount of time.
